Zakat Calculator ("we", "the site") is a free website at calculatorzakat.com. The short version: you do not sign up, the figures you type never leave your device, and nothing from Google loads unless you say yes.
The figures you enter stay on your device
Every calculation runs in your browser. What you type (amounts, weights, names you give to family members or accounts) is not sent to us or to anyone else. The page saves it in your browser's local storage so it is still there next time. It stays there until you remove the rows in the calculator or clear this site's data in your browser. If you use "Save to a file", the file is created on your device and goes only where you put it.
Your browser also remembers a few settings on your device: your currency, the light or dark theme, and your answer to the cookie question.
Prices the page fetches
To work out the nisab, your browser fetches public gold and silver prices from gold-api.com and currency rates from the Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com). These requests carry no figures of yours, but like any web request they show those services your IP address and browser type. Their own privacy policies apply to what they do with it.
Our fonts are served from our own site, so no font service sees your visit.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not run a server of our own and keep no visitor logs.
Analytics and advertising (only if you accept)
We plan to use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used, and Google AdSense to show ads that keep the site free. Both use cookies. Before either can load, every visitor is asked, and if you decline or ignore the question, nothing from Google loads. At the time of writing neither is switched on; the question appears once they are.
If you accept, Google may use cookies to measure visits and to show ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to other sites. You can turn off personalised ads at Google Ads Settings, read how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and change your answer here at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about you on our side, so there is nothing for us to send you or delete. Your figures can be removed on your device at any time, as above. If you accepted Google's cookies, Google's own tools let you see and delete what it holds. If you are in the UK or the EU and have a question about your data, write to us and you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes
If what the site does with data changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
